Family homelessness is closer than you think.

Every year, hundreds of families in West Michigan face the fear of losing their home. Job loss, unexpected medical bills, and lack of affordable housing put parents and children in crisis. Tonight, 27 families are on our waiting list, with no safe place to sleep. This urgent need is growing, and together, we can change that—one family at a time.

Problem: Many families can’t afford housing.

A single parent would need to work 75+ hours per week to afford a 2-bedroom rental in Kent County.

50%

of families in our diversion program avoid ever entering shelter

Problem: Homelessness is a generational risk.

Children who experience homelessness are 47 times more likely to themselves be homeless as an adult.

1,955

children have been served this year alone

Problem: Many families return to shelter after leaving it.

Statewide, families entering shelter have a 28.3% shelter recidivism rate.

only 3%

of families who exited our shelters re-entered shelter in the same year
